CAMPAIGN IMPACTS

Health-Care Learning Labs

Providence Saint Patrick Hospital and Norco have been key partners in developing innovative health-care learning labs at Missoula College. Their support provided a nursing lab that consists of a nine-bed unit of simulated patients and a cadaver lab that is used to demonstrate surgical procedures in partnership with local health-care providers. Advanced labs for surgical technology, respiratory therapy and radiology technology provide experiential learning opportunities for the next generation of health-care professionals.

Scholarships

Access to financial assistance is life changing for students, especially at Missoula College, where financial need among students is high. Many of our students juggle nontraditional responsibilities while completing their education. A small scholarship goes a long way in helping a student achieve an education, leading to a career that will improve their socioeconomic status. Campaign Montana donors rallied to support our students by giving to existing scholarships and establishing new ones that will help Missoula College students pursue their degrees for generations to come.

Impact Fund

Impact Funds across campus help ensure UM’s excellence by providing discretionary support where and when it is needed most. Your support during Campaign Montana allowed Missoula College leadership to direct resources to critical areas of need and respond to unanticipated learning expenses, including specialized equipment to enhance experiential learning activities, emergency funding for students in need and faculty scholarly activities. Campaign Montana donations provided financial assistance to support experiential learning equipment, such as a new lightbox for demonstrations in the surgical technology lab, and allowed students to join a professional society for students in trades education. Your gifts furthered career-bound students in their academic journeys.

TOGETHER, WE CAN CHANGE MORE LIVES

We’ve achieved so much during Campaign Montana.
We will continue the momentum with these fundraising priorities.

Scholarships
Access to financial assistance is life-changing for UM students, especially at Missoula College, where financial need among students is high among those attempting to juggle nontraditional responsibilities while completing their education. A small scholarship goes a long way in helping a student achieve an education, leading to a career that will improve their socioeconomic status and provide opportunities for a better quality of life.
River Campus Facility
When state funding enabled UM to open a new $30 million building for Missoula College on its River Campus in 2017, Campaign Montana donors stepped up to provide the generous support needed to finance this unique public-private partnership. While state and private support has made this exceptional facility available to our students, more needs to be done to finish the building to its full potential. Naming opportunities remain to build out and optimize the learning spaces and labs with technology, equipment and furnishings.
Industrial Trades Education Center
The Missoula College West Campus, home to the Industrial Trades programs, was built in the 1960s and is in need of significant updates. Your support will help build a new Construction and Welding Training Center to provide functional training space, where faculty will teach students shop safety. Your gift also supports efforts to recruit degree-seeking students through customized industry training for workforce development, apprenticeship programs and outreach training programs in regional high schools.
Interdisciplinary Healthcare Education Lab
The Interdisciplinary Healthcare Education Lab will provide additional support for our six existing health professions programs and serve over 500 anatomy and physiology students annually. With your support, we will complete construction of the laboratory space on the fourth floor of River Campus and expand health-care education to serve the nearly 200 students enrolled in health-care programs.
Missoula College Advising and Career Center
A major obstacle for many individuals as they enter college is choosing a career trajectory and program of study. The Missoula College Advising Center provides students with strong academic support services but is limited in career enhancement resources. Your support of the Missoula College Advising and Career Center will help us provide students with experiential learning experiences, internship placement support and career coaching services. By enhancing the services it offers, the Center will improve student retention, help students discover career pathways and change lives.
Culturally Significant Campus Space
Native American students are the largest minority population at Missoula College, yet there are limited gathering spaces on the River Campus that recognize the heritage and cultures of Montana tribes. For centuries, Hellgate Canyon, where our River Campus is located, has been a historic gathering place of indigenous people. Your support will fund a campus space to recognize the significance of this unique location and provide a welcoming and inviting environment for all students. Your gift will help enhance the nurturing environment of Missoula College and help it become a hub for Native American student enrollment and transfer student support.
